Elsa.

This week we gave into her Disney Princess desires, and she went to a Frozen party with her ballet teacher in her Granny-and-Aunty-made Elsa costume.

It wasn't easy for me, I'm not a fan of the Disney ideals, but hearing her mutter to herself as she was falling asleep, "Elsa and Anna, Elsa and Anna, Elsa and Anna..." with the biggest smile on her face made it all worthwhile.

Today was a very special day for her. And tomorrow I will make sure she knows she is just as special and beautiful, when she is herself, as when she is in a princess costume. Sleep well Princess Elsa, see you in the morning Nellie Noodle.

  1. Aww she's adorable, and as Disney princesses go, she could do a lot worse!

  3. i'm not a fan of the disney princess stuff either. really really not a fan. my girl is only now just starting to show a little interest, and it's hard to balance supporting her interests with being true to my values. anyway, i've settled on this little strategy: she asks me to tell her a princess story, and i tell it pretty straight along the disney lines, then i tack on a bit at the end, a part where the prince becomes a stay at home dad, and the princess goes on to pursue her dreams of of being a fair and just govener of her land. so, yeah that's going pretty well (hahahahahaha!)
